Epidural Injections

Epidural Injections – Cervical, Thoracic, Lumbar, and Caudal

Epidural injections are a highly effective treatment used to relieve back pain and radiating leg pain caused by various spinal conditions. At Montgomery Pain Institute, we offer cervical, thoracic, lumbar, and caudal epidural injections to target pain and inflammation in different areas of the spine. These injections reduce swelling and alleviate nerve pain by delivering a combination of steroid and anesthetic directly into the epidural space.

Procedure Overview: Lumbar and Caudal Epidurals

A Translaminar Lumbar Epidural and Caudal Epidural take about 5-15 minutes to perform. This procedure focuses on alleviating lower back pain and radiating leg pain. A local anesthetic is first applied to the lumbar area to numb the skin. Using a fluoroscope for precise guidance, a needle is inserted into the epidural space between the L4 and L5 vertebrae. A mixture of steroid and anesthetic is then injected to reduce inflammation and soothe irritated nerve roots.

For some patients, full relief may require up to three sessions.

At Montgomery Pain Institute, our expert providers use advanced techniques and personalized treatment plans to help patients manage chronic spinal pain effectively.
